Four teens seriously injured in Johnson County crash

Four teenagers were hospitalized after an early morning accident in Johnson County.

The crash happened around 4:00 a.m. Monday along County Road 1110 west of Rio Vista and south of Cleburne.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said a group of teens were in a Toyota Tacoma that was speeding. The truck hit a dip in the road, went airborne and rolled several times.

Three of the teens who weren’t wearing seatbelts were ejected, the sheriff’s office said.

Sona Gomez, a 15-year-old from Cleburne, is now in critical condition. The three others – 16-year-old Dylan Hulsey of Granbury, 15-year-old Shanna Young of Weatherford and 15-year-old Caleb Reid, who was vacationing from Oklahoma, are in serious condition. Officials said Hulsey was the driver of the vehicle.

The teens had been at a fast food joint at some point before the crash. Investigators said drugs and alcohol were not involved and that speeding appears to be the main factor in the wreck.

Richard Eason moved from the city to the peace and quiet of rural Johnson County years ago. But in the last 3 months, Eason said there have been two bad wrecks at the same spot on his stretch of County Road 1110.

"It's so ironic so close to this one,” Eason said. "I've seen motorcycles go off the road, seen cars go off the road. Luckily they survived -- weren't going that fast. I’ve seen over 10 cars in the last 25 years go off that road.”

The Texas Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
