Former NASCAR driver Gary Myers dies at 76

Former NASCAR driver Gary Myers has died. 

His family confirmed his death on social media. He was 76 years old.

"Last night I lost my hero," Burt Myers wrote on Facebook. "He fought so hard but was so tired. My daddy is in Heaven and can finally do the things he wanted to do the last several years. Thank God for the times we had. He taught me everything I know. Selfishly I want him here but I know he is much better off now. I miss him so much."

Gary Myers started in 47 races during his 5-year NASCAR career, according to motorsportstats.com. He’s also one of four generations of NASCAR racers in his family. His dad was NASCAR driver Billy Myers and his uncle was NASCAR driver Bobby Myers. His son is NASCAR driver Burt Myers, and his cousin Danny "Chocolate" Myers is a longtime NASCAR personality, FOX 8 reports.
