A Dallas firefighter is preparing to compete in a chili cookoff next month in New York.

Milton Willaims is a regional finalist in Hormel’s Best Firehouse Chili contest. He and four other firefighters will compete for a $10,000 prize.

Williams calls his recipe Texas Cyclone Chili.

“I’ve been doing this job for 33 years and the first time I ever made chili, they called my chili tomato sauce because it didn’t have enough flavor, didn’t have enough spice!” he said. “Certainly the guys here, you want them to like what you cook because if you don’t they're going to let you know about it. In no uncertain terms, they're going to let you know about it.”

Williams said he’s added several ingredients to his chili recipe over the years at Station 50 in southwest Dallas. But there’s one thing he’ll never add… beans.
