Cowboys show off new home in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - The Dallas Cowboys are settling in to The Star in Frisco. The team will begin practicing at the new facility on Sunday.

Team officials moved into their new headquarters within the 91-acre mixed-use development on Cowboys Way and Gaylord Parkway earlier this month.

The players have been at training camp in Oxnard. They will begin to use the Ford Center, their a state-of-the-art training facility, after Friday’s preseason game.

“From the meeting room to the practice field to the windows in the weight room, the whole thing just looks on another level,” said Tony Romo, the Cowboys quarterback.

Cornerback Brandon Carr said he has driven past it, but hasn’t seen the inside yet.

“I see how magnificent it is from the outside. I can only imagine how it is on the inside. I can’t wait to get back home,” he said.

The Star also includes restaurants, shops and even a small hotel. Fans can be part of an exclusive Cowboys Club to watch the team practice and use the gym, pools and spa.

The Frisco Independent School District’s high school football teams will also get to play in the Ford Center because the district helped to finance part of the $1.5 billion facility.

On Thursday, Frisco’s teachers used the 12,000-seat indoor practice field for a convocation. Some students, band members and cheerleaders got a little preview of what high school games will be like there.

All four of the district’s opening games next Saturday are sold out.
