Several people were hurt Thursday afternoon when a bus got stuck under a bridge in Fort Worth.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, it happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Foch Street and W Lancaster Avenue.

About 20 people were on board at the time. Seven were taken to the hospital, all with minor injuries.

Hazmat crews were also called to the scene because of a fuel leak.

"Today we had a couple of them on detour due to some issues we had construction wise on 7th Street," said Fort Worth Transportation Authority spokesman Shawn Donaghy. "Part of our ongoing investigation in conjunction with the Fort Worth Police Department is to ascertain whether or not the bus was supposed to be on this street and if this was a designated detour route for us."

Lancaster was shut down in both directions from the Trinity River to Currie Street due to the crash.

The T said the bus involved in the incident was 11 1/2 feet to 12 feet tall, but a sign on the overpass warned the clearance under was only nine feet.

The T is investigating why the driver didn't see the sign.
