Budweiser, Lyft giving Texans free rides to combat drunk driving
Budweiser and Lyft are teaming up to offer free rides in Texas and several other states to help fight drunk driving.
The safe ride effort is part of the beer company’s Give A Damn campaign, a 15-week program to remind people of Budweiser’s responsible drinking message: “Give A Damn. Don’t Drive Drunk.”
Beginning Thursday, the companies will offer up to 10,000 round-trip rides every weekend to people living in the Texas, New York, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Georgia and Washington, D.C.
To get the special codes, people over the age of 21 must visit Budweiser’s Facebook and Instagram pages each Thursday at 2 p.m. to obtain a $20 ride credit for two $10 one-way rides through the Lyft app.
The credit must be used between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. that Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.
The companies said the campaign will provide up to 150,000 rides beginning this Thursday and will run through the end of 2017.
