Suspect killed after shooting in Wallace, ID

Authorities in Idaho provided an update on an active shooter situation earlier in the day. Officials said three people suffered minor injuries after a gunman opened fire in Wallace, ID. The suspect was shot and killed by officers, according to authorities.

A suspect opened fire inside a sheriff’s office in Wallace, Idaho Friday, injuring three people before being killed in a standoff with law enforcement.

What we know:

Around 2:40 p.m, Friday, a suspect shot at two women sitting in a pickup truck outside the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, then went into the lobby and fired more shots inside, Idaho authorities said at a news conference. A deputy was grazed by a bullet.

The shooter reportedly had multiple guns and drew a massive law enforcement response from multiple agencies in Idaho and eastern Washington.

The suspect was killed by law enforcement after a stand-off and pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m. The deputy and two women shot outside all sustained minor injuries, police said. 

What we don't know:

Local authorities did not release any information about the shooter and called it "irresponsible" to float possible names online when a suspect has not been identified.

"We don’t know yet," Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris said when asked about the suspect.
