GARLAND, Texas - Garland police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 12-year-old boy with significant injuries on Saturday morning.

What we know:
The boy was crossing a marked crosswalk at North Garland Avenue and Apollo Road at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, while riding an electric scooter, when he was struck by a white utility-style work truck, according to Garland police.
The truck had four doors and storage compartments along the sides of its bed, according to police. Investigators said the driver may be a heavy-set man with a short buzz-cut hairstyle.
Driver briefly stopped before fleeing
What they're saying:
Police said the driver briefly stopped after the crash before leaving southbound on North Garland Avenue. The truck had been traveling eastbound on Apollo Road before turning south onto North Garland Avenue.
The boy was in stable condition, police said.

Investigators are asking the driver to contact police and are seeking witnesses, dashcam video or other information from people who were near the intersection around the time of the crash.
