FORT WORTH - Police are still searching for the person who shot and killed a clerk at a Fort Worth convenience store.

38-year-old father, Jimmy Khela was killed Saturday at the Pronto Food Store on East Long Ave.

Coworkers and regular customers of the store came together Sunday, to mourn the loss.

Residents who live nearby say Khela knew almost everyone in the neighborhood.

“He was just a fun-loving guy, joked around,” said regular customer Tamara Heflin. She lives just down the street from the store, and said she comes in almost every week, “He would assist us if we were, ya know, 50 cents short on something, bring it in when you come back, no problem.”

Coworkers say Khela worked two jobs to provide for his wife and two young children.

Fort Worth police say the shooter is still on the loose. They’re looking for a white or hispanic man. He’s seen in surveillance video, wearing a white baseball cap and bandana across his face.

The store remained closed all day Sunday. It is unclear when it will reopen.
