Southlake fire officials give update on chemical plant fire

Crews are evaluating potential hazards in the area.

Southlake officials say a large fire at a chemical packaging plant is under control.

The fire broke out just before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Dalden Corporation building on T.W. King Road.

No one was injured in the fire.

Chemical plant catches fire in Southlake

Residents were told to avoid the area while crews battled the blaze.

Homes in the area were evacuated.

Anyone in need of shelter can go to the DPS North Facility at 100 East Dove Road.

Two schools in the area were told to "shelter in place" due to the fire.

Southlake DPS calls the evacuations precautionary as they evaluated the potentially hazardous materials inside the structure.

The air quality in the area is also under evaluation.

Southlake DPS told people to avoid the area while crews battled the flames.

Multiple streets in the area around the fire were closed including West Bob Jones, Southfork Road, T.W. King Road, Edgemere Drive, and Indian Creek Drive. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
