A family vacationing in San Diego County was stunned when they checked into their Airbnb rental and discovered what they believed was a large photo of themselves hanging on the wall.

Video recorded by Aubrey Birrell captured the family's astonished reaction as she and her sister pointed out familiar faces in the framed beach photograph.

Big picture view:

According to Birrell, the discovery happened shortly after the family arrived at the rental.

"We arrived at the Airbnb. On the fifth floor, across from my room, was a picture of the beach. My dad jokes, saying, 'If I were in the painting, I'd be this person,' as he pointed to himself," Birrell told video licensing company Storyful.

But the joke quickly turned into disbelief.

"That was my dad, my sister, Libby, and my brother Brady," she said. "We could tell the swimsuits were theirs, and it was truly them! We could even place when the picture was taken!"

Birrell said the family was left stunned by the unexpected discovery and remains puzzled about how the image ended up displayed in the vacation rental.

"I could not believe it," she said. "Insane that it was in our Airbnb. I would love to know who or how someone got that picture."
