Dallas offering discounted microchipping for pets

It is now mandatory for Dallas dogs and cats to have a microchip.

The new ordinance is an effort to cut down on the number of stray pets in the city. 

Saturday you can get the service at a discounted $10 at Dallas Animal Services from 10 am – 1 pm.

If you make an appointment to have your pet spayed or neutered, which is free for certain zip codes in Dallas, the microchip is included.

Dallas Animal Services is located at 1818 N Westmoreland Drive.

There is no appointment required for Saturday's event.
