Car hits man as it plows into Irving restaurant

It was a close call for a customer at an Irving burger joint after an SUV crashed inside on Monday afternoon.

Police say the driver made a mistake that caused her vehicle to jump the curb and plow into the A1 Burger House in Irving.

Somewhat miraculously, that customer only suffered a minor scratch on his arm. He was eating and messing around on his phone, but then blown out of surveillance camera view by the impact.

“He said he's completely fine it's OK, you don't need to call an ambulance,” said Azim Hussain, restaurant owner's son. “He had a cut on his arm, but he said everything is good. Everything is fine.”

A surveillance camera captured Hussain walking up to the SUV in disbelief.

Firefighters said inside was a woman and her two kids. Her husband showed up but didn't want to talk on camera.

“It could have been really bad,” said Irving firefighter DK Walker.

The restaurant owners don't know the name of the man who was hit by the SUV -- but it’s not a stretch to call him Lucky.

“He was more worried about the passenger inside the car and us, rather than himself,” Hussain said.

As for the restaurant itself, it plans on taking to-go orders and will keep people updated on the repair status on social media.
