Arlington restaurant shooting leaves 1 man hospitalized
ARLINGTON, Texas - A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot outside an Arlington restaurant overnight.
What we know:
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on Thursday outside the Pluckers Wing Bar near Interstate 20 and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Police said a group of men were kicked out of the Pluckers restaurant before beginning to fight amongst themselves. Another group of teenage men later began fighting the first group.
An off-duty police officer at the restaurant attempted to break up the fight before 45-year-old Justin Wallace and 32-year-old Adrian Martinez began assaulting him.
During the fight, 18-year-old Jonathan Ybarra produced a handgun to hit Martinez with before firing multiple shots into the ground, striking another 18-year-old member of Ybarra's group in the foot.
Ybarra was detained at the scene by Arlington Police. Martinez and Wallace attempted to drive away from the scene before being arrested by responding officers.
Several other people were hurt during the fight. All their injuries are non-life threatening.
Ybarra faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a controlled substance after a THC vape pen was discovered in his pocket.
Wallace faces a charge of assaulting a peace officer and a DWI charge, as police found he was intoxicated after pulling him over. Martinez was taken to the hospital before being charged with one count of assaulting a peace officer.
What we don't know:
The gunshot victim’s current condition is unknown, although police said he is expected to recover.
Police are unsure of why the two groups began fighting.
