Argentina tops Jordan 3-1 in final group stage match at Dallas Stadium

The first round of the World Cup – the group stage – wrapped up in Arlington on Saturday as Argentina defeated Jordan 3-1.

Lionel Messi helped his team seal the top spot in Group J after subbing in during the second half and scoring his 19th career World Cup goal on a free kick. Argentina will head to Miami Stadium next to play Cape Verde in the Round of 32.

Algeria and Austria will both advance to the knockout round after their Group J match on Saturday ended in a draw. Algeria will face Switzerland in the knockout round, and Austria will play Spain.

The Jordanians have already been eliminated from the tournament after losing to both of those teams.
