Cam Newton: It's funny to hear a 'female talk about routes'
CHARLOTTE, NC - Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says he thinks it's funny to hear a female reporter ask about routes.
At his weekly press conference, a reporter with the Charlotte Observer, Jourdan Rodrigue, asked a question about getting more passes to wide receiver Devin Funches and the different routes he's been taking to those catches.
His answer did not sit well with people.
Q: I know you take a lot of pride in seeing receivers play well. Devin Funches has seen to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little enjoyment to see him truck sticking people out there?"
A: "I think it's funny to hear a female talk about routes."
The Panthers QB went on to talk football, but it was clear that the damage had been done.
Rodrigue and Newton had a brief exchange outside the locker room, but according to her, there was no apology.
