FORT WORTH, Texas - A nurse injured in an elevator accident last year in Fort Worth is suing the elevator service company and its manufacturer.
Rogena Wright said the elevator at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital malfunctioned and dropped three floors in a matter of seconds.
The civil suit claims Wright was seriously injured when the elevator violently landed. It accuses the defendants of failing to inspect, maintain, and repair the elevator and seeks more than $1 million in damages.
Just last month, another hospital worker at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth was seriously injured in a separate elevator incident. The same company, Thyssenkrupp Elevator Corporation, was involved.

JPS sent a letter to the elevator service company accusing it of “jeopardizing” the lives of patients and staff.
The hospital has not released many details about the injured worker, citing privacy laws, but state inspectors are looking into what happened.
