SWAT Standoff leaves suspect shot, woman found dead
A large police and SWAT presence remained at a Lewisville apartment complex Thursday morning following a shooting incident that left one woman dead and a suspect injured.
LEWISVILLE, Texas - Police found a woman dead inside a Lewisville motel room after a SWAT standoff early Thursday morning.
The suspect in the standoff was also injured in a shootout with police.
What we know:
Lewisville police responded to multiple 911 calls around 3 a.m. at the Budget Suites off South State Highway 121 near Corporate Drive.
When the officers arrived at the scene, the suspect walked outside of an apartment in the L Building and began firing at them. Officers initially did not return fire and sought cover, according to police at the scene.
The suspect went back inside the apartment, prompting police to call for SWAT and armored vehicles.
When the specialized units arrived, the suspect exited again and fired additional rounds at officers. Thankfully, no officers were hurt.
After a long standoff, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound.
Officers then found a woman dead inside the apartment from a gunshot wound.

A suspect is in custody after an officer-involved shooting in Lewisville that happened early Thursday morning. Police officials say the suspect was shot by officers, but his condition is not known. When officers went into the apartment where the suspect was, they found a deceased woman. This is a developing story.

It’s not yet clear who shot the suspect.
"We did learn that the suspect does have one gunshot wound. At this point, we don’t know if it was a self-inflicted wound or a wound from one of our officers returning fire when they were shot at," said Asst. Chief Donald Fulbright with the Lewisville Police Department.
Police haven’t yet released his name, mugshot, or the charges he’s facing.
They also haven’t released any details about the deceased woman. There’s no word on who shot her or what kind of relationship she had with the suspect.

The Texas Rangers are now handling the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
Lewisville police will continue to investigate the suspect’s actions.
