Suspect shot by Fort Worth police after he almost hits officer with vehicle

A Fort Worth police officer shot a drug suspect who nearly hit the officer with his car, according to police.

The officer saw the man involved in what appeared to be a drug deal in the 2300 block of Brandon Avenue in north Fort Worth around 10:20 Saturday night.

When the officer confronted him, a fight started, police said.

The  officer tased him several times, but he still was able to get into his vehicle. He put it in reverse, almost hitting the officer, police said.

The officer then opened fire, striking the man several times.  The man drove several miles, before crashing into a vehicle at Lancaster and Riverside. He kept driving but was eventually pulled over by another officer on a 287 access road, police said.

He was taken to the hospital. His condition isn't known.
