The man accused of murdering a University of North Texas college student goes on trial Monday.

Eric Johnson was arrested at a Marine base in Yuma, Ariz. last year. He was stationed there but he has since been discharged from the Marine Corps.

Police said he shot and killed Sara Mutschlechner during a verbal altercation on the road on New Year’s Day 2016. Posts and photos on social media helped investigators track him down.

Police said Johnson has admitted his responsibility in the shooting. They’ve also recovered what is believed to be the murder weapon.
