After a North Texas housekeeper was murdered, her son learned that her alleged killer had a $1 million life insurance policy on her. Now he's trying to stop the killer's family from collecting that money.
Al Fox III filed an injunction and lawsuit last week in Tarrant County.
He believes he is entitled to money from the policy and the alleged killer's estate as compensation for his mother's death.
Police believe Gerard Gorman and his son, Bernard, killed her to collect on the life insurance policy.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, "Gerard Gorman and (at least two others) were paying $700 dollars a month each to maintain this policy."
Police don't believe Fox knew about the policy or that she even knew the Gormans. She was just the target of their insurance fraud scheme, they said.
Investigators put all the pieces of the puzzle together in January after Gerard died of natural causes.
Bernard was arrested in Florida a month later. He admitted he helped his father plan and carry out the murder, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
The injunction filed by Fox's son asks the court to prevent Gerard's wife from receiving any benefits from the insurance policy.
The lawsuit asks for $1 million for damages, funeral expenses, loss of inheritance, mental anguish, pain and suffering and more.
