Infielder Jurickson Profar is unlikely to play for the Texas Rangers in 2015 after he undergoes surgery on his right shoulder.
It's a massive setback for Profar, who missed all of the 2014 season due to three tears in a muscle on the back of his shoulder.
The Rangers announced an MRI performed Tuesday showed a strain on another shoulder muscle.
The team physician, Dr. Keith Meister, will perform Profar's surgery on Monday and then release a more definite timetable on the player's return.
Profar was penciled in as the Rangers' second baseman.
