Overnight flooding in Sherman, Texas forced people to evacuate and caused damage to several homes.

Sherman Police posted pictures of the flood on their Facebook page, saying they had responded to 25 water rescues from vehicles that were caught in high water.

Residents say the water started coming into their homes around 4 a.m. Sunday. Some were alerted by family members and other neighbors to get out before first responders to make sure everyone had evacuated.

Some residents report the water rose to a a few feet inside their homes and did a lot of damage.

“With the creek being right there, flash floods, it is a risk living in this neighborhood. But we got to deal it now,” sad C.J. Isley.

Police had to temporarily shut down some roads, including Northbound 75 near the Houston/Lamar exit. Many of those roads have since reopened as the water receded.
