More than two dozen Crowley middle school students were being treated Monday evening for injuries from a school bus crash.

Crowley ISD said the injuries are minor, mostly bumps and scrapes. There were 70 students on both buses, with 31 students taken to area hospitals along with both bus drivers.

Some of the students were loaded into ambulances with what were described as whiplash injuries.

The district said the injuries were caused by one school bus rear-ending another bus.

The accident was a low-speed collision, according to the district, but there was significant front end damage to the second bus.

Students had just been dismissed from summer creek middle school, about a half mile from where the accident occurred.

All of the students had been discharged from the hospital by Monday night and will likely return to classes on Tuesday.
