Thousands of local nonprofits seeking support for North Texas Giving Day

It's a big day for the nonprofit organizations that serve so many people. Here's how you can support your favorite cause.

Nonprofit organizations across North Texas are looking for a big show of support for North Texas Giving Day.

It’s an 18-hour online fundraising event that happens each year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

North Texans are encouraged to make a much-needed donation to one of the more than 3,000 charities participating in the campaign.

"North Texas Giving Day is truly a community event. It’s something CFT started 13 years ago and has since transcended into it’s the community’s event and we’re the custodian of it," said Dave Scullin, the president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas.

Last year the campaign helped raise more than $58 million for local charities. That was an $8 million improvement from 2019.

This year there were more than 100,000 before 9 a.m.

"This event has changed me. It is deeply personal and deeply important. I would encourage anybody who has not been part of this event, go into our website NorthTexasGivingDay.org, start scrolling through the areas of service. If you are interested in your geography, we sort it by geography and the nonprofits in your geography. Start looking at the profiles. You’ll learn something and you’ll start giving. Every time I go in, I give to somebody else and it’s just a very important, very powerful element," Scullin said.

Here are just a few of the worthy causes asking for donations.
