Fort Worth's North Side High School mariachi band wins award

FORT WORTH, Texas - A Fort Worth ISD mariachi band was honored in the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards.
North Side High School's Mariachi Espuelas de Plata were named Best Latin Music Artist by the magazine.
It is the first time a public school music ensemble has been nominated for and won the award.
The voting was determined by reader votes.

The program at North Side High School was formed back in 1980 to honor students' Hispanic roots and culture.
Since its formation, the school's group has won many awards and honors.
