Dallas firefighters help people escape burning apartment building

Firefighters rescued a man and his dog early Friday morning after their apartment building caught fire in Old East Dallas.

Several people escaped a burning apartment building in Old East Dallas before dawn Friday.

The fire started at a complex on Fitzhugh Avenue new Ross Avenue.

Two people got out on their own. Two others were rescued and taken to the hospital in an unknown condition,

A neighbor shared cellphone video of firefighters rescuing a dog from a second-floor window.

It’s not clear what caused the fire.
