Kidnapping suspect dies in crash following police pursuit on I-35 in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, Texas - A driver died Monday evening after crashing into a concrete pillar under an I-35 overpass during a police pursuit, according to Fort Worth officials.
What we know:
Fort Worth police were investigating a vehicle believed to be involved in an aggravated kidnapping around 6:30 p.m. Monday. When officers attempted a traffic stop on I-35, the driver fled, initiating a pursuit.
The driver lost control of the vehicle after taking the Pharr Street exit and struck a concrete pillar beneath the overpass. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing as police determine the specific circumstances that led to the pursuit.

The identity of the driver has not been released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. It also remains unclear if the driver was the person sought in connection with the aggravated kidnapping.
