Chief Hall reassigns DPD's vice officers
DALLAS - Twenty Dallas police officers will be reassigned as part of an overhaul of the Dallas Police Department’s vice unit.
Chief Renee Hall said she found “serious irregularities” during her evaluation of the unit. She did not give any details about those irregularities.
“We found that there are some inconsistencies relative to procedure, protocol and our policies and we need to take a look at that to ensure that we are operating with the highest level of integrity,” Chief Hall said.
Vice handles crimes like drugs, gambling and prostitution. For now, patrol officers will handle those crimes and hand them off to detectives.
The vice officers will be reassigned to areas like domestic violence and robbery cases.
The chief will bring in outside experts to review the vice unit.
