Dallas firefighters put out a fire on the 12th floor of an abandoned high-rise hotel.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 15-story building located near Interstate 35 and Mockingbird Lane.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said when firefighters arrived they could see smoke coming from the roof and upper floors of the building.

More than 100 firefighters and 25 trucks responded to the scene because of how tall the building is and the size of the fire.

Although the building was vacant, there was still furniture and other combustibles that contributed to the intensity, DFR said.

They were able to extinguish the flames at 7 a.m., just as many people were arriving for work in the area.

DFR said no one was inside the building when the fire started and no one was hurt.

They are still investigation the cause.
