Toys for Tots is working to make Christmas special for thousands of kids across North Texas. Wednesday morning the Marines were out buying a lot of toys to help.
FOX 4's Shannon Murray met up with them at Toys R Us in Irving to find out more. They had $20,000 to spend on toys that will be donated to children this Christmas. That money came from donations from the community.
“The monetary donations go a long way. For every $1 we get donated, that is $2 and a half worth of toys we can purchase. So a dollar does stretch,” said Sgt. Troy Benson, the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots coordinator.
The Marines said the biggest need this year is for boys and girls ages 9 to 12 years. To help, you can donate an unwrapped toy, money or your time.
