DALLAS - A pedestrian was struck and killed early Sunday morning on eastbound Interstate 30, prompting the complete closure of the highway and a multi-hour investigation that snarled morning traffic.

Dallas police and fire-rescue units responded at 3:30 a.m. to the major crash near the 1st Avenue exit on eastbound I-30. Emergency personnel arrived to find one person down in the roadway and several vehicles stopped on the shoulder.
Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Dallas Police Department's traffic unit were called to the location, alongside additional officers from various divisions to manage the scene and traffic control. All eastbound lanes of I-30 were immediately shut down, with drivers being diverted off the highway.
