Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 102,000 vehicles due to a defect with the vehicle's speedometer.

What we know:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the recall impacts certain models of their F-Series pickup trucks from 2025-2026.

The recall notice says the analog cluster's tachometer and speedometer may become stuck or move erratically and show the wrong speed, which would raise the risk of a crash.

The recall covers certain 2025-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, F-600, and 2026 F-150 and F-750 SD trucks.

Dig deeper:

The issue was discovered in May when it was brought to review by Ford's Critical Concern Review Group. Ford concluded supplier process deficiencies caused the inaccurate readings.

As of September 16, 2026, Ford has identified 18 warranty and 93 field reports caused by the faulty equipment since January 2025. However, no accidents, fires or injuries have been reported.

What's next:

Owners are expected to be notified of the issue and risk when interim letters are mailed out on October 26, 2026. The automaker anticipates a permanent remedy to be available by the end of the year.
