1 dead, 3 injured in Northwest Dallas shooting

One person was killed and three others are hospitalized after an early morning shooting in Northwest Dallas.

Police were called to the 3300 block of Sheila Lane just before 4 a.m. Sunday. That's near Bachman Lake Park.

Responding officers found four people had been shot. All four were taken to a hospital.

One died from his injuries, one is in critical condition, and the other two are in stable condition.

Investigators found that someone in a vehicle opened fire on the victims.

"We told them we heard so many shots. They said, ‘Yeah, somebody got killed.’ That was bound to happen," Alberto Sanchez said.

Sanchez has been living at the corner of Timberlane Drive and Sheila Lane for the last 23 years.

He said he’s no stranger to weekend gun violence.

"It was around, from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. There were about six shots and then you could hear another one. Four shots. They were shooting at each other, you could tell," he recalled.

That gun violence happened again early Sunday morning with a deadly shooting at the El Sol Del Lago Apartments.

Authorities said someone in a vehicle opened fire and drove off. Four victims were rushed to a hospital, and one of them lost his life.

2 men, 2 women killed inside Northwest Dallas apartment, 2 arrested, police say

A shooting at a northwest Dallas apartment complex killed four people on Sunday evening. An infant was also found inside of the apartment.

A FOX 4 crew counted at least 23 bullet holes on this side of the complex, with a few of them going inside someone’s apartment.

"I used to get up, I don’t get up [anymore]," Sanchez said. "My daughter said, ‘Don’t go out dad, you might get shot.’ So I stopped doing it."

Dallas police couldn’t say whether the group was targeted or if the shooting was random.

There is currently no description of the suspect vehicle, and police don’t have a description of the gunman.

Sanchez said this kind of violence makes him scared to go out at night.

"The only reason I don’t go out anymore is because I’m afraid that they might get mad and start shooting. I got some family that living close to the window, so I’m afraid they might get mad and start shooting over here," he said.

Sanchez said police are usually already present in the neighborhood, but that it’s not enough to prevent violence.

"It’s kind of bad. They patrol around here 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock in the morning," he said. "Hopefully they start patrolling more."
