A Philadelphia Eagles running back and former North Texas high school football star won his first Super Bowl ring Sunday night.

Jay Ajayi is a product of Liberty High School in Frisco. The proud school already has the 24-year-old’s picture posted on its website.

Ajayi now wears number 36 for the Eagles. Sunday night he ran for 57 yards on nine carries, making some nice contributions to Philadelphia’s win. He averaged more than six yards a carry.

After the game, he was very emotional and collapsed on the field, overcome with the magnitude of the Super Bowl victory.

“To understand that I’m a Super Bowl champion, it’s the greatest feeling in the world. I’m so blessed and I pray that someone is inspired by it,” he told the Daily Mirror.

Ajayi was born in London. His family moved to the United States when he was 7 years old and they eventually settled in Frisco.

At Frisco Liberty, he had 35 touchdowns in his senior year. He also lettered in track and field. Ajayi went on to play for Boise State University.

He entered the NFL draft after three seasons at Boise State and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins. He was traded to the Eagles this past October.

“This is so special to be the first ever to bring a Super Bowl to Philadelphia and to be part of it. It’s a dream come true for me, man,” Ajayi said.

And after just three seasons in the NFL, he’ll be fitted for one of those coveted Super Bowl rings.
