Gov. Abbott to faithless elector: ‘YOU'RE FIRED'
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has gotten himself into a Twitter war with the Texas delegate who refused to vote for President-elect Donald Trump.
“@TheChrisSuprun: YOU’RE FIRED!!!” the governor tweeted Tuesday morning.
Suprun was quick to point out that he resigned and implied that Abbott and his staff ignored public threats against electors.
Suprun became known as the “faithless elector” and was the face of those calling for electors, like himself, to vote against the will of the people and vote for someone other than Trump. He said he would cast his ballot for another Republican who he felt was more qualified to run the nation.
Abbott’s comment drew both praise and criticism.
