Wounded Fort Worth officer up, moving around with walker

Wounded Fort Worth Police Officer Matt Pearce is up and moving around with his walker.

Pearce’s wife Laura posted the update on Pearce's condition from JPS Hospital on Friday. Pearce is now also off oxygen and is on a soft foods diet.

An upcoming kidney scan will determine whether doctors will keep Pearce in North Texas or move him to a Houston hospital.

Pearce was shot five times in mid-March while chasing a fugitive and his son. Ed Mciver Sr. was killed in the return fire and his 21-year-old son, Ed Mciver Jr., is now facing several charges including attempted capital murder.

A sale of “Team Pearce” t-shirts and proceeds from Chick-Fil-A restaurants earlier this week has brought in more than $80,000 for his family.
