This week's Trackdown features the case of a man gunned down while sitting in his car while waiting on a woman in the parking lot of a Dallas motel.

Detectives have a video clue they hope someone has the answer to.

In the parking lot of the Dallas Inn Motel in Oak Cliff is where Nathan Lewis lost his life while sitting in his Chevrolet HHR SUV on April 24 around 4 a.m.

“Nathan was over here visiting a friend of his, a female who had been living here for the past month,” explained Dallas Police Homicide Det. Steve David.

The detective says the woman lived in a room on the second floor. The relationship was not monogamous.

“And that particular night, she was with the person of interest when Nathan shows up,” David said.

The detective says the person of interest and Lewis knew each other and actually had a confrontation about eight months prior over the same woman.

All three of them left the hotel separately. Then, Lewis returned and waited in the parking lot for the woman he was seeing. A man in a hood then appeared with his hands in his pockets while he walked the lot. Lewis is then shot through the front passenger side door.

“Then you see him sprinting back up this parking lot, and he disappears into the back,” David said.

Lewis left his car and stumbled to the office where he collapsed and died.

Police say the gunman appeared to be a gray hoodie or some sort of light-colored hoodie. He had off-white long pants with black shoes and some facial hair.

Detective David can't prove the other guy who was with the woman is his person of interest. He has denied it

“The female herself had a hard time with the video to say one hundred percent that this is my person of interest,” David said. “Our job is to bring closure and justice to whoever did this. That’s where we're at.”

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone who has information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (214) 373-8477.
