Texas Live! job fair draws 800 people

Hundreds of people lined up Wednesday to try to get a job at a new entertainment venue opening soon in Arlington.

Businesses at Texas Live! in Arlington were looking to fill job openings before its debut later this year. The $250 million mixed-use district sits between AT&T Stadium and the Rangers’ Globe Life Park and will feature entertainment and dining options. It’s one of several similar developments around the country.

Guy Fieri, Lockhart Smoke House and Revolver Brewing have already signed on to have storefronts at the venue. Officials said the development will create 1,200 jobs when it opens up later this summer.

About 800 people signed up for a job fair Wednesday afternoon at Globe Life Park. People flocked to the event to try and get a foot in the door at the new development.

“It seems like a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor and work my way up,” applicant Taylor Ayers said.

It’s the second such job fair that the development has held. The first one took place during the NFL Draft in April and drew 500 applicants.

No official date has been set for Texas Live’s opening, but officials are aiming for early August.
