DALLAS - Law enforcement officials chased a stolen pickup from Longview to Downtown Dallas early Thursday morning. The teenage driver is now in custody.
According to early reports, the chase started when a Longview police officer spotted the stolen vehicle and tried to pull the driver over around 4 a.m.
The driver refused to stop and got onto Interstate 20, heading about 130 miles east towards Dallas. At one point during the high-speed chase, the front right tire of the truck blew out.
The teenage driver lost control of the truck when he tried to take the Ervay exit on Interstate 30 in Downtown Dallas.
By that time several departments had joined in the chase including the Dallas Sheriff’s Department and Dallas Police Department with its helicopter. Officers quickly arrested him and took him to the Dallas County jail.
There’s no word yet on the driver’s name or the charges he’ll face.
