TCU keeps ban on guns, opts out of campus carry

TCU officials said Friday it will opt out of campus carry and keep its ban on guns.

TCU’s Board of Trustees voted Friday to opt out of Senate Bill 11, which allows private universities to choose whether or not to would allow licensed handgun owner to carry a concealed weapon on campus.

TCU held multiple student and community forums during the fall semester debating the issue.

“It was quite clear that no matter which side of the issue each person felt was best, all cared deeply about the safety of the community,” said Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor for student affairs.
