SWAT standoffs linked to federal drug raid

About 50 people in North Texas are now facing federal drug charges

The FBI said raids earlier this week stemmed from an investigation that started 17 months ago. Federal agents believe the suspects are all part of a drug trafficking organization.

The agency said the group is responsible for distributing hundreds of pounds of meth and cocaine.

On Wednesday morning viewers called FOX 4 to report seeing SWAT officers at several homes in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Denton and Kemp. The standoffs in Fort Worth and Kemp were not related this case, but the others seem to be.

Some defendants appeared in a federal court room in Dallas Thursday. Others are schedule to be in court next week.
