Two brothers arrested for 14-year-old Dallas girl's murder

DALLAS - Two brothers believed responsible for the murder of 14-year-old Natalie Hernandez have been arrested, Dallas police said.

Investigators say they were the able to develop information that led them to Ernesto Salazar, 25, and his brother George Salazar, 22. Both are charged in the murder of 14-year-old Natalie Hernandez.

Hernandez was killed on Feb. 12 in a drive-by shooting at a park across from Hawthorne Elementary in Pleasant Grove.

Dallas police said she and three friends had gone out to get food and were sitting in a car at the park around 10 p.m. Four men in a dark-colored vehicle then pulled up and started shooting at them.

Hernandez died at the hospital. A 16-year-old boy who was in the car with her suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but survived. Her two other friends were not hurt.

Police have not said if the brothers knew the victims or what they believe the motive to be. Homicide detectives say there are other people that still have to be interviewed and additional information will be forthcoming.

Family members described Hernandez as a bright, young girl who was kind and funny. Instead of planning her Quincenera for her fifteenth birthday they had to plan her funeral. Hernandez attended Samuell High School.

The Salazar brothers were in jail Thursday evening, each on a $500,000 bond.
