Secret Santa surprises some Dallas ISD teachers with gift cards

Hundreds of Dallas ISD teachers were given a Christmas surprise from a Secret Santa on Wednesday morning.

Teachers at Billy Earl Dade Middle School and six other schools found out they were given $400 gift cards to Target during a morning assembly.

The cards at Dade MS were hidden under their chairs along with letters of appreciation written by their students.

"It was a bunch of surprises. It was very heartfelt. I feel like the students did their all to come out today and I just feel really special. Like, it brought tears to my eyes,” said sixth grade teacher Danielle Smith.

An anonymous donor bought 300 of the gift cards for the teachers in recognition of their efforts to improve some of the district’s lowest-performing schools. The other campuses include: Blanton Elementary School, Edison Middle Learning Center, Mills Elementary School, Umphrey Lee Elementary School and Zumwalt Middle School.
