1 dead, 2 injured in shooting outside Dallas shopping center

Dallas police are investigating a triple shooting outside a shopping center Wednesday afternoon that resulted in the death of one person.

Police say the shooting happened in the 11700 block of Ferguson Rd., just before 2:40 p.m.

Responding officers found three people who had been shot.

One victim was pronounced dead while being taken to a hospital. Police say the second victim is in critical condition at an area hospital, while the third victim is in stable condition.

Police say a man walked up to three people standing in front of the convenience store and started shooting.

At the same time, Rebecca Garcia was approaching the parking lot to pick up her grandson. His school bus drops him off there. She says it dropped kids off just minutes after the shooting.

“I heard shots and I’d seen people running, and I’m thinking his bus is up here,” she recalled. “So I stepped on it and I landed right here and I jumped out of the car when I saw the man on the ground and a lady struggling to give him CPR.”

Garcia says people took turns giving CPR to the man most seriously injured while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

Police have not touched on a possible motive for the shooting. They do not have a good description of the gunman or the black vehicle he left in.
