Mesquite PD officer shoots suspected car burglar

MESQUITE, Texas - A Mesquite police officer shot a suspected car burglar Thursday night.

The officer was responding to a report that someone was breaking into a truck and set off an alarm on Town East Boulevard.

The officer confronted the man. Police said he put up a fight. The officer fired, hitting the man once. The man continued to fight, police said.

Other officers arrived and put him in handcuffs. Police said it took three officers to hold him down until paramedics arrived.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The officer was not hurt.
