Lawsuit could temporarily force Dallas County DA Susan Hawk out of office

Prosecutors want Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk temporarily removed from office while a lawsuit against her moves forward.

The 52-page document was filed recently, judge in time for Friday’s hearing when a judge is scheduled to determine if the lawsuit should proceed.

One of Hawk’s former employees, Cindy Stormer, wants Hawk removed from office. She alleges that Hawk, who left office for two and a half months to seek treatment for depression, is unfit to serve as district attorney.

In her initial pleading, Stormer asked that Hawk be temporarily removed until the legal process runs its course.

Now Ellis County DA Patrick Wilson, who is representing Dallas County, has filed what’s called an amended petition, also asking the judge to temporarily remove Hawk from office and appoint a replacement pending trial.

It’s significant in that the prosecutor is making the request.

The judge will likely not rule on the issue until Friday, as well as determine if there is enough evidence for the case to go forward.
