Large hail, destructive winds expected Wednesday for North Texas

DALLAS - North Texas is under the gun starting Wednesday afternoon for damaging storms.

DFW and the surrounding areas will be under an “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather for much of the afternoon and into the night.

People could see some scattered showers throughout the day, but the biggest threat will begin after 4 p.m.

A line of storms is expected to develop west of the Metroplex between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The storms could bring tennis-ball-sized hail and destructive winds as strong as 70 miles per hour. The threat of a tornado is low, but an isolated tornado isn’t ruled out.

The severe weather threat should move out overnight and into Thursday morning.

North Texas dries out after that. The rest of the week looks sunny with temperatures in the 70s and plenty of sunshine for the Easter weekend.
