Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center evacuated again

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was evacuated for the second time in three days for another bomb threat that turned out to be fake.

Security guards sent people away from the Dallas Convention Center at 3 P.M. Sunday afternoon when a someone called 911 with a bomb threat. The threat put a pause on a large video game competition, hosted by the Major League of Gaming, and the Spirit Celebration Cheer Competition.

"The staff came in and said 'Alright, everyone needs to evacuate,' so we did not really know what was going on," said Christian Karstendiek, a cheerleader who was there to compete. It was the second time Karstendiek has had to evacuate the convention center in just three day's time.

On Friday, around 4 P.M.. police got another bomb threat and spent more than five hours investigating and sweeping the building.

Karstendiek saw enhanced security at the competition since. "They did have more security guards posted at doors and everything" he said.

The increased security did not prevent a second hoax threat.

"I was ready to go on the mat. I was like, 'What?! Like, seriously?" said cheerleader Doriana Robinson.

Cheerleaders with Express Cheer Exotic in Frisco were among those rushed out. Lexi Doggett said "We're just hoping it doesn't make us too nervous, because we were already a little bit nervous for today, so it's probably just going to add a little bit to that."

Dallas Police cannot yet say weather the two threats are related, but say they acted out of an abundance of caution in both situations.
