Flu already starting to spread in North Texas

There are already cases of the winter flu in North Texas.

Doctors at one emergency room in Grand Prairie said flu cases this early in the season are rare but not unheard of.

“Last two weeks we’ve seen the cases of flu in young healthy adults. That is a little unusual because typically the flu season does not start until October – Oct. 1 to May 29,” said Dr. Yonatan Lemma with Medical City Grand Prairie. “You should start getting your flu shots now.”

Parkland Hospital in Dallas said it has treated six flu cases this month.

Dallas County will open its flu shot clinic on Monday.
